IT'S BEEN A TOUGH few weeks for Virginia Beach's cyclists. Around dawn on April 19, a veteran rider on Shore Drive, pedaling toward one of the city's most scenic stretches, was struck and killed by an SUV. By all accounts, Daniel Hersh was a great guy, an experienced cyclist who loved every minute on his bike. He was one of those dads whose pride in his kids bubbled out at the slightest provocation. Those who loved him, who rode with him or worked with him or simply wanted to pay tribute to the 54-year-old Navy veteran, honored his memory last Sunday with a ride around Virginia Beach.
